Castle Dwellers
Painting on paper has a satisfying feeling. There is an immediacy in the process that invites imagination and play. Placing the tape on the border and setting up a boundary for the images to appear feels like casting a circle and calling in the corners to support. It is preparing a space for the energy to become seen. As soon as I choose a color, the story and the characters begin to make themselves known. These pieces are magical in their process of creation, a sense that comes through in the final image.

What lies within our castle walls? When we shine our light, what shadows appear? Within each of us are shadows yet unseen; they are the aspects of ourselves we have not encountered and that we may never know without the willingness to seek them out.
This image came through during a period when I was actively seeking out my own shadow aspects. A self-discovery process that while difficult to begin, really helped me understand my own motivations. Light and shadow work together to make form. Some forms we like and want to integrate and welcome into our castle. Others need to be banished and cannot be part of the royal dwelling. Learning how to distinguish these forms is part of the move from Prince and Princess to King and Queen.
